Black Friday

I heard lots of people were talking about Black Friday. I was curious why they called this friday is Black friday. It was not the 13th on this friday. I asked all my friends. Nobady can answer me. Therefore, I surfed the Internet. I got the answer. it said, "Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving in the United States, marks the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season, although retailers often decorate for the Christmas season weeks before-hand. Many retailers open very early (typically 5 A.M.) and offer doorbuster deals to draw people to their stores. Although Black Friday has served as the unofficial beginning of the Christmas season for decades, the term has been traced back only to the 1970s and did not achieve widespread popularity until about 2002.
Black Friday is frequently but erroneously referred to in the media as the busiest retail shopping day of the year. In actuality, the busiest retail shopping day of the year in the United States invariably is in the week before Christmas, usually the Saturday before Christmas.[1] Black Friday is usually the fifth to tenth busiest day.[2] Some have argued that Black Friday is typically the busiest shopping day of the year in terms of customer traffic (as indicated by full parking lots, massive lines, stores letting only a set amount of people in at a time, and people fighting over products), as opposed to sales volume, but reliable statistics on customer traffic do not appear to be available." But I stiil do not kn0w why it called Black. It supoose be a happy day for shopping. My friends and I decided to join this big dicount sale but it was hard to decide where we should go. Was Columbus circle, SOHO or 34th street? So, we voted. The final result was SOHO. We met at SOHO at 9a.m. We think early brids alawys get warms. But I slept late.(I am really not a early person) When I took the subway, I saw people carry many bags. I thought it really had a big discount. But I was totally wrong. When I got SOHO, it like usual. Stores only had few things sale. It was not like wikipedia said, "massive line, people fighing over product." We just wonder that we went to wrong place to shop? Apparently, we did. My friend's sister told her we should go to shopping mall likes Macy's. There was big big sale on everything. Sigh....we are new comers. Next time, I know where I should go.

Thankgiving

This is my first Thankgiving day in the United State. I were looking forward to the Macy's parade. My friends visit me from Massachuesetts for the Macy's parade. They said, "This year will be a big event because it is 80th years. " However, the weather was so badly. It is chilly and wet. The rain was heavy. It was 6a.m. The color of the sky was dark. I called my friend. They said, "the parade might be cancalled because the rain. " I opened the radio to listen the lastest news. It seems like the parade will still be hold. Therefore, I asked my friends who came from Massachuesetts, "Do you guys wanna go to see the parade? " they quickly said, " We do not want to go the parade. " Good. I went back to sleep until noon. It was still rain. We stayed at home all day. Stores did not open on Thankgiving day. We were no where to go. It was so depressed. But they were still exciting. They gonna to Woodburrey at midnight. Actually, it was the point of this trip. They carried a empty 29 inches suitcase to carry their stuffs back. It was so crazy. I did not go with them. I hate crowed place and wait in a long line. This was my boring thankgiving. Next year, I have to see the parade and have a traditional thankgiving dinner.

make reservation for my vacation

I have many old friends in the United states now. I do not know why everyone I knew studying aborad this year. There are two junior high classmates, four high school classmates, one friends from university, and four collegues.they are all in different places which has in LA , San diego, Seattle, Boston, Washington DC, New jersey, Florida, Long island, Binghamton. There is another friend in England. Isn't it cool? I have planed my vacation to visit them. I had gone to Washington DC. The next one is to Florida in winter break. Here are my plan:

haha, my goal is to go throgh whole the states. Because of them, I can spend less money on my trip. I love it. If anyone want go out with me. Please make reservation first. haha...
i always work harder on my travel plan than my study plan. If my parents know it, I will be killed...

The Color Purple

This Thursday, I skipped my economic class to go to see Broadway show, the Color Purple. It was my first Broadway show and it only cost me “fifteen” dollars. That’s why I decided to skip my class to see it. The ticket was too cheap. I cannot give up this chance. I go with members of Project A.I.M. I have to say Project A.I.M is a really good organization. It always has wonderful workshops. Honestly, I have no idea about story of the Color Purple before I went to see it. I should do some homework. Because the entire show I just can catch thirty percent of the line. I was so depressed. But I still enjoyed the show. The music is so great. The voice of the main actress is amazing. I was in touch several times. My friend said," Several times I was almost cry. " I thought the show was worthy to skip the economic. By the way, After the show, my friend and I made a deal,” We have to understand eighty percent of lines of Broadway show in next two years. “

wonderful weekend in forest valley

I had a wonderful and memoable weekend in forest valley. As I mention before, I join the porject A.I.M retreat. At first, I just thought it will be a trip for fun. I was totally wrong. I learned lots from this overnight retreat. For example, I learned what the mission and vision of St John's,examining yourself under conflict situation, the culture shock. My favorite workshop was team building. The mission is to challegning yourself limit. First, I have to climb the tree and then to jump from the forty feets high platform. You can choose to touch the ball in front of you or to jump backward. Most of our teammates chose the former one. But i chose the latter one. It was so awesome. I really enjoyed it. The best thing I joined this retreat is I made lots of friends who come from different countries. Before the retreat, we just recongized the face. Now, I felt we are more closer and had connection bewteen us. It was so great. I am glad I join this overnigh retreat. By the way, the scenery of Forst valley is so amazing and the castle is so cozy.

Overnight Retreat

Tomorrow I am going to overnigh retreat upper New York state. I am really looking forwand to this weekend. I heard we will stay at the castle and the scenery is amzing. It is really wonderful. But there is no reception in the mountain. We are really out of the city life. Right now I am packing my bag. I have no idea what I should bring. One thing for sure is I must bring my digital camra and battary must be full charged. I definely will take lots of pitures. I check the weather online. It seems cold there. I am wonder if i could see the snow. Haha.... I am really glad to join the Project A.I.M. Some of my friends want go with us but they cannot. haha~~they are jealous. Ok.. I need to pack my bag. I do not want miss things I should bring!!

Halloween parade

I was going to join the halloween parade last Tusday. It was really great. My friends and I arrived W4 street around 5 o'clock because we were afarid we can't see the parade. When we got there, there is fewer people than I though so we were luck stand at the second line. As the time approach, there is more and more crowded. The parade finally began. I was hard to see the parade because everyone who in front of me was taller than me. I just stood on my tiptoe all night. After two hours later, I was exhausted and straved. We decided to leave there and grab some to eat. It usually take five minutes to go through the street. We took twenty minutes even more to go through it. Then, all restaurant which around Greenwich village were all full of people. Besides, we had more than ten people. It was really hard to get the table. Therefore, we go to Time square to look for the dining. I am thinking next year I should go to see the parade or not? It was conusming my engery.
